Since about 11:30 this morning (it has been two hours and counting), Sina Weibo has been displaying a variant of the message here above. I don’t know if Sina’s microblog service, the most popular of the kind in China, went down because of a planned update or some technical failure, but it is definitely a big story to be told.
From our database archive, the latest microblog status updated from the website was at 11:29 (11:28:56, to be precise), and we have recorded a couple of status updates sent via mobile devices, blogs.
To be sure, our archiving tools were still up and running, as the Sina API was and is still responding. Here is another screenshot of my database query:
